Paper Recycling
One of the largest components of the commercial waste stream is paper and paper-based materials.
Our commercial paper recycling services include collecting office paper, mixed paper, newspapers and magazines.
We provide paper recycling services to a wide range of businesses including major retailers, printers, publishing houses, financial & legal institutions as well as individual offices. We can offer a range of equipment for handling the paper at our customers’ premises, from paper trim extraction systems, balers and compactors at printers’ premises, to skips and individual office recycling bins.
Cardboard Recycling
Every tonne of cardboard Smurfit Kappa Recycling collects for recycling contributes to a more sustainable environment, saves money and reduces the amount of material sent to landfill. Working closely with our Group packaging organisations, our closed loop approach gives our customers the confidence of knowing that recovered material is being put to good use.
With a large and flexible transport fleet, we can provide a bespoke collection service to suit all your recycling needs. Whether cardboard is in a loose or baled form or whether you have 1kg or 1000 tonnes, we have the solution to suit you. As well as a comprehensive range of collection containers we can provide storage trailers, balers, conveyors and other specialised processing equipment for use on your site.
As an accredited re-processor, we can provide a Packaging Recovery Note (PRN) for each tonne of material we recycle.
Plastics Recycling
As one of the UK’s major collectors of recyclable plastics, Smurfit Kappa Recycling has markets for all materials including polythene, polypropylene, plastic bottles and hard plastics
We collect loose and baled plastic film from some of the major UK retailers and have contracts with numerous local authorities for recovery of plastic bottles. The environmental benefits of recycling plastics are considerable - massive amounts of energy can be saved, natural resources such as oil conserved, reduced emissions of greenhouse gases and valuable space is spared from landfill.
PRN Provision
As an accredited re-processor, Smurfit Kappa Recycling can provide you with a Packaging Recovery Note (PRN) for each tonne of material we recycle. Current UK packaging recovery legislation makes producers responsible for the recovery or recycling of packaging materials after use. It applies to businesses that handle more than 50 tonnes of packaging per year and have a turnover of £2m or more. Organisations that produce, import, fill or sell packaging or packaged products should check annually whether they pass the two thresholds and need to comply.
